This monumental vase, created by Weller Pottery for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904, was displayed at the working pottery that Weller had built especially for the Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri. After the fair closed in December 1904, the vase was returned to Weller's Zanesville, Ohio facility where it remained, virtually forgotten, for 70 years. This striking floor vase was rediscovered in 1974 when the building was sold to United Technologies and then shipped to the company's corporate headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut, where it was displayed until 1994. The following year, this piece was purchased at auction on behalf of the Zanesville Museum of Art by the Pottery Lovers organization.
