GIRL SCOUT DAY AT THE ZMA | Brownie Painting

This event consists of 5 stations that the Brownies (ages 7 to 10 years old) will work through to earn their painting badge. One station is a tour.

The 25-30 minute tour is very open-ended and consists of showing the Brownies different kinds of paintings and letting them talk about which ones they like best. You will have a group of up to 15 girls and troop leaders. There will be at least one troop leader per group.

Here is the exact badge language from the Girl Scout curriculum:

“Go to an art show or museum. Find five paintings that you love and decide why you think they are great. Who painted them? When? Look for what they have in common with each other.”

How to prepare: Choose a path through the museum to show the Brownies a wide variety of paintings. Use the badge requirements above to develop your prompt questions. Show them how to read an object label so they can discover who painted the paintings and when.

There will be 5 tour slots (similar to the Jewelry Artist Girl Scout Day) You can sign up for one or do multiple tours in a row.
