Join us in reading Alice Hoffman’s novel A Marriage of Opposites , an exciting historical fiction novel that explores the roots of impressionist painter Camille Pissarro. Experience the island of St. Thomas in the early 1800s through the eyes of Pissarro’s mother and experience the struggle of her relationships with her own mother and her favorite son who becomes a father figure to many of the impressionists. Discuss the novel’s vivid portrayal of Camille Pissarro, his family, and the beginning of the Impressionist movement with ZMA education coordinator Misty Johnson.
A limited number of copies are available at the John McIntire library in downtown Zanesville.
