73rd Ohio Annual Exhibition Opening

Join us for the opening of the 73rd Ohio Annual Exhibition Thursday, June 21, 5:30–7:30 pm, in the Great Gallery. Free and open to the public. Enjoy complimentary refreshments and live music.

The Ohio Annual Exhibition celebrates the Zanesville Museum of Art’s commitment to discovering, encouraging, and recognizing Ohio’s finest artists and artisans. In its 73rd year, this competitive, juried exhibition welcomes submissions from all Ohio artists, in all stages of their careers. In 2016, over one hundred and eighty artists vied for the opportunity to exhibit their work at the museum and earn the title Best in Show.

This year we are honored to have distinguished guest juror, Erin Shapiro, the Curator at the Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, Ohio, to select this year’s participants and award a $1,000 prize for Best in Show. The museum would like to thank the Beaux Arts Club, the ZMA’s affiliate group, who will present the Excellence in Fiber Arts award and a $250 prize to one outstanding quilt-maker, textile, or fiber artist. The museum will also recognize and present $100 awards in 1-Painting, 2-Drawing, Prints, and Collage, 3-Sculpture, 4-Jewelry and Functional Metalwork, 5-Ceramics, 6-Glass, 7-Photography.

Each year we look forward to presenting a stylistically and thematically diverse exhibition that captures the essence of Ohio’s vibrant visual arts scene. The people, places, and customs found in each unique region of the Buckeye State inspire its artists, and the ZMA is in the fortunate position of recognizing and fostering this creativity. We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition opening Thursday, June 21.
