PERSPECTIVE LECTURES
The Zanesville Museum of Art, with the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council, is pleased to present a series of engaging lectures in conjunction with this spring’s exhibition cycle.

STATE OF THE ART | STEM or STEAM?
Join our distinguished panel of regional and state educators, artists, and administrators for a lively discussion concerning the state of the arts in our education system. This panel is held in conjunction with the 2016 K–12 Student Art Exhibition.

Irene Baron
Artist
Teacher
Irene Baron began a decade of formal art studies in charcoal and pastel at age eight when awarded First Prize in the Zanesville AAUW Art Contest. She sold her first oil painting by age 12. She has displayed her creations in numerous juried exhibitions and judges art exhibitions. Currently Baron teaches Classical Drawing at the Zanesville Museum of Art. She said, “Drawing is something anyone can learn with correct training.”

Baron, a private pilot, is a national award-winning aerial photographer and author/illustrator of the national award winning book, Unraveling the Christmas Star Mystery available at Amazon.com. She is certified to teach any science in the state of Ohio and has taught high school Physical Science, Astronomy, Chemistry, and Forensics.

Diane L. Jones
Assistant Superintendent, Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center
Diane Jones has been a long-time educator in the Muskingum County area serving in positions in West Muskingum Schools, Franklin Local, Zanesville City and for the past 14 years she has been in the role of Assistant Superintendent of the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center, a center committed to providing services and programs to 16 schools districts in 5 counties in Southeast Ohio. Prior to being at MVESC, she was a teacher, principal and curriculum director.

In addition to helping educators, she volunteers in numerous community efforts. She has served 2 terms on the United Way Board of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties and the Muskingum County Workforce Policy Board. She is a member of the Powerhouse, Inc. board, a group advocating for arts for students and is also on the Muskingum County Workforce Policy Board. She is a past recipient of the Women of Achievement Award.
