Convicts, Pavers, and Controversies: Brickmaking in Two Southeastern Ohio State Prisons

Join us for the ZMA’s new educational lecture series, ZMA Talks, generously supported by the Taylor-McHenry Memorial Fund. Each month, enjoy engaging speakers presenting on an exciting variety of topics.

Ohio’s rich clay deposits were used for more than the American Art Pottery that made Zanesville and the surrounding areas famous. Brickmaking was another booming Ohio industry. Join researcher, writer, history enthusiast, and ZMA Docent Michael Sims and explore the fascinating story of convict-made bricks produced in two Ohio state prisons.

Thursday, October 6, 6 pm, in the 2nd Floor ZMA Linn Auditorium. Free and open to the public. Registration required by October 5, 2022.
