Session Descriptions
May 31: Impasto Painting
Use acrylic paint to build bold layers of vibrant textures using impasto painting techniques inspired by the Impressionists. Experiment with color mixing and acrylic mediums to create your own impasto masterpiece.
June 7: Watercolor Wonders
Discover the endless possibilities of watercolor projects beyond the traditional landscape. Experiment with wacky colors and layers to create fantastical environments and creatures, make your own watercolor journal, and design artist cards to trade with your fellow classmates.
June 14: The Art of Glass
Learn to safely cut and grind glass pieces to create your own works of colorful glass art. Design and construct a framed glass mosaic and layer fusible glass to create a beautiful translucent window hanging. *Fused glass pieces will be available for pick-up after they are fired.
June 21: Playful Printmaking
Explore several printmaking techniques including traditional block printing, gel printing, and the wildly popular Gyotaku (Japanese printing with actual fish)! Print on rice paper, cardstock, and fabric to create a wide variety of pieces.
July 28: Open Studio
Enjoy an afternoon of finishing pieces from an earlier session or creating new works with your favorite materials from the series. All registrants are welcome to this session.
Instructor: Gail Glagola
Gail is a retired New York State art teacher who loves to weave and paint. Recent paintings have been shown at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton, John McIntire Library, and The Works in Newark, Oh. Her weavings were the subject of a one-artist show at the John McIntire Library in Zanesville. Teaching remains a favorite and Gail sought out classes at the Zanesville Museum of Art to keep connecting with students young and “experienced”. After several years the museum asked her to join them as the Educational Assistant and a member of the newest Docent class.
