CHASING AMERICAN IMPRESSIONISM | Karl Kappes and His Teacher, William Merritt Chase

The Zanesville Museum of Art, with the generous support of the Ohio Arts Council, is pleased to present a series of engaging lectures.

This lecture will explore Zanesville artist, Karl Kappes’s journey from Zanesville to New York’s Student Art League in the late nineteenth century and the influence of American Impressionist, William Merritt Chase on Kappes’ artistic ability and style.  Works from the exhibition, along with works from the permanent collection will be shown as we explore the influence of Impressionism through the eyes of these two American artists.
